It's been mentioned before. It is just not seen very often.

Indeed. It's even been seen in the manga. Was in a battle alongside Vatshu, against some A Tolls I think.

I didn't bother to look at this kit much before since I don't want any 1/144, but it looks like the quality is actually respectably decent. Pretty good overall proportions too.

Now if only someone would do A Toll Embryo in 1/100...

The quality is OK, not as good as a Tani 1/144 (obviously), but still pretty good...

The proportions are what impress me the most. A lot of 1/144s have goofy proportions which lets you know they are 1/144 right away.

But this A Toll Embryo handles proportions very well, I'd almost believe it was 1/100 if I didn't already know it was 1/144.

and it seems to me that the sculpted shapes are very true to the illustration, but somehow the sculpted form is made more "dense" or perhaps I could say each individual design element is closer to its nearest neighboring elements in the sculpt than in the drawing. Even the oddly "hyperextended" knee is hinted at in the illustration.

The OR seems a more solid, angular, blocky design than the GL. I think that the sculpted versions of each push their respective source material further in the opposite directions starting from the basis of the GL: spindly, organic, insectoid, fatima-esque, etc and the OR: solid, massive, more robot-like and angular. (I hope that last sentence made sense.)

The appeal for me in both cases is the sheer scale, spectacle, detail, and menace of the two designs.

I think they compliment and "comment upon" each other very nicely and I hope one day to have the skills, time, and finances to construct them both.

Well my thoughts exactly. But even if the OR is more angular and everything, I think it's pose should be more "weird", like the GL.
The 3 MH of the mighty series are very angular, but still very dynamic, with the back very arched, ultra-large shoulders, and I think the Jagd OR should look the same.

But still it's an amaizing work to sculpt such a beast...

Looking at this kit, I noticed the sort of star-shaped protection on the front arms, and realised they were also on the manga picture, and well, I don' tlike it at all. It doesn't fit with the whole design.

Thanks for the welcome, Falk - I was on Waxtrax years ago and only just recently discovered this board.

After having "slept on it" (yesterday was the first day I saw the images of the Orange Right) I find that I feel a bit sad about this design - nothing like the joyful, astonished feeling I had when I first saw the Green Left.

And then felt all over again when I got my copy of the Twin Tower book in the mail from Kinokuniya years ago.

And that I feel every time I see any image of the Green Left, period.

Sure, it is impressive that the Orange Right exists at all - that Nagano-san created and illustrated it, and that someone sculpted it - but after having already seen the Green Left, well, perhaps I will never be the same again.

Perhaps the green left is simply an achievement in mecha design that can never be surpassed. Maybe we all hoped that it could be, and wanted the Orange Right to attain that next higher level.

Maybe expectations were just too high.

Maybe I just need some time for the new design to "sink in" and then I will like it more - like new music by a favorite band that I'm afraid will never be as good as they have been in the past.

Hrm... in my case, I think I saw both Jagds at more or less the same time... so I guess, for that reason, I like them equally well...

In fact, maybe I saw the Orange first, in its limited appearance on the cover of the Mirage Character Book.

I find it interesting how they are both giant designs with twin busters and huge shields... and yet have so many armor styling differences. I really like serrated armor pieces of the Orange... and more than that, I really like the Orange head.

I have both of the Jagd head sculptures that were released a long time ago... neat stuff.

And now that I think about it, there was an old piece of artwork that showed just the Orange Jagd head, with a couple of people standing on/around it. I wonder why no one ever mentions this piece of art when the Orange Jagd discussion comes up? Mechadream doesn't have a copy of this image on the Orange Jagd page... does anyone here have a copy of it? Maybe it's a rather obscure piece of art...

Anyways... I'm still looking forward to seeing Nagano draw some more stuff for the Orange Jagd. I really hope he does something better with the legs than what's been seen with the FAC kit. Even if the styling is the same, I would hope the proportions would be a bit nicer...

My apologies to those who love the kit... but I'm not digging it at all, even though I really like the Orange Jagd design in general...
