Isn't that the definition of a troll?

But no, happy isn't a troll. He may be confusing, and he may be rude at times, but he sometimes comes up with useful information.

Bhop: Welcome to FSS modelling. :) Despite Happy's rude manner, in a strange way you should feel honoured that he commented on your work at all; he almost never does. Sadly you will never be able to return him the favour, because as the regulars all know Happy never shows any of his own models here (or anywhere else, as far as I know).

Perhaps you would be kind enough to point us to an image gallery of your FSS works, Happy? 8)

I am chuckling a bit after reading the last half dozen or so posts in this thread... 8)

Anyways, the shade of pink may be a bit dark and all, but the work is still quite nice, especially for a first MH. Of course, I know bhop's previous work in gundam and armor kits is all about quality, so I'm not surprised.

I've mentioned this to some people already, but I really love the little blue highlights. They really 'pop'.

Thumbs up Bhop!

Good pt. on the blue highlight, it really stands out, better than the Knight Club one.

But I have also seen Bhop's work back in gundam.com, and what is color mixing going to do w/ whether this kit is his first MH or not?

It's a resin kit, the color used has nothing to do w/ what the GK looks like.

If I were trying to match the official color, and it doesn't come close, I would just screw it and totally change to a completely different color, as long as the color looks nice.

Besides, if semi-clear pink is hard to duplicate, why not use the unofficial color of the manga version:

I never said the color (pink) had anything to do with whether this was his first MH or not. When I said it was very good for a first MH, I was referring to the fact that MH kits in general have a different sort of overall aesthetic from a gundam or military kit. Brighter and more rich colors for MH, more subdued and washed out tones for the average military kit. People tend to weather military kits, and I know bhop weathers gundams as well. But most folks prefer to keep MH clean looking, and I'm glad bhop went in that direction with the B4. MH also have a lot of fine details that need taking care of, and this is no different for the B4. There's the aforementioned blue bits, there's all the delicate gold detailing on the chest, there's the work on the eyes.... there's just a lot of small things that someone might miss if they didn't pay attention to the source material closely. Also, I know bhop has done a couple resin kits before (mostly figures I think?), but this is probably his first resin mecha of such complexity, and it looks like he handled the building process well. There's a lot to finishing a kit besides choosing the right color (I shouldn't have to explain this).
If I were trying to match the official color, and it doesn't come close, I would just screw it and totally change to a completely different color, as long as the color looks nice.
Well, that's you... and when you build your kits, you can do it that way. This is bhop's kit, and he thinks his color is fine, so that's what matters. If he was entering a FSS-only contest of some kind, it might matter... but this is just a friendly gathering of FSS builders. So there's no reason to nitpick.

I would point out that batman's LED B4 is a very similar color.

I have seen Arcanna Siren in green, green-blue mix, sky blue, but this is the first time purple is mixed at the bottom part in conjuction w/ blue.

Purple is a rare choice for most MH because it is very hard to make it function well as a secondary color, and at the same time, complement the primary color.

The GK is very nicely done, especially the details on the eyes, it is very clean, very sharp.

The separation of color (Black vs. white) is amazing clean and the metallic grey on the horn is also superb work.

I can see that you choose not to alter the "hair" of the MH via blow dryer to make it curved and flowing like the Silicon Tribe version. You think it might look better if you alter it that way?

There's a difference with the way the stabilizers are set up between the White and Red Phantom. I'm not sure if it is possible to get the ones on the white phantom to flow like the ones on the Red without some modification. Anyway, elemental's got the Red phantom for the flowing stabilizers :D .

Actually, I did use a hair dryer to shape the stabalizers. 8) They come completely flat, and I made them curve slightly.

I have seen people mod the volks white phantom stabalizers to look like a red phantom (Knight Club's "Red" Phantom, for one), and I think it looks better unmodded. This is partly because there are only 9 stabalizers on white phantom, compared to 29 on volks red phantom. You can't get anywhere near the same effect with so few stabalizers.

As for purple on MHs... It is the one colour that we almost never see. Nagano doesn't even use much purple on fatimas or other characters. Maybe he doesn't like purple?

I have to go back and review the volks red phantom, I didn't even recall there are that many stabilizer. In that case, you are absolutely right. 9 piece vs. 29, w/ 9 pieces, it really doesn't do much.

As to the Arcanna, purple is just a tough color to function as a secondary color. It is mostly for tertiary color, you have to really like that color to use it as a seondary color on a MH. Like the Arcanna above, it is different than all the other Arcanna MH posted in those Japanese modellers' sites, that's for sure.

If anyone's interested, there are bigger photos of my LED Mirage B4 on the NKG contest page. The pics are re-shot after I put some gloss coats on the model.
