Online Paint Suppliers

Post by Hydra Mirage » Fri Jan 28, 2005 6:12 pm

Hey Everyone,

Where do you buy your paints ?
I find it extremely difficult to get the paints I like, let alone the correct colors.
Tamiya & Gunze Sangyo seem to be the biggest suppliers but they don't sell direct.
Where has a good selection of arcylic & enamels, plus thinner, base and top coat?

I found two sites via google that seem good. But I have never used them before.

Also, can you dilute Tamiya acrylics with Water ? Or do you need Tamiya thinner ?

Thanks !

Try the high price Legends & Toys in California.

But if you can find it at a lower price, do so, as Legends service is average at best.

Thanks for the reply happy !

I found a good shop in NY called Village Comics in the West Village.
Great selection of Taminya paints, though they didn't have any primer or thinner.

What can you use to thin Tamiya Acrylic ? Can you only use tamiya thinner or will white spirits work also ?

You can thin Tamiya acrylic with water or rubbing alcohol. The former may be better for clear colors, as the rubbing alcohol may make them dry a bit hazy.

Are you in NY? I heard there isn't much modelling stores in NY. I know there is a mail order place that order Gunze Mr. Color. But he is a one man co.

I found it. "Your source to mr. color", however, web site seems to be down.
