Kaiyodo Soft Vinyls

Simple one this, are they any good?

To be perfectly honest... No.

I've built the 1/100 LED, LED full-Armor, Junchoon, as well as collaborated on the 1/35 LED mirage model; all of which have soft detail (lack of sharp edges & defenition, look washed-over) and parts fit was problematic at best. Essentially, the complexity & detail of a MH doesn't suit the vinyl model-making process very well, as you're left with a lot of gaps & poor fit that are hellish to putty/repair, due to the soft nature of the vinyl. Also, Kaiyodo had a bad tendancy of including a number of key parts in white metal, which, if your kit isn't filled with plaster or resin, will cause them to sag under the weight of the metal.

Also, FYI, the Kaiyodo kits are all VERY small, even in their respective scales.. My old Volks AF LED Mirage was a good 2-3cm taller than the Kaiyodo vinyl kit.
