My obsolute favourite is Victory Gundam. It was my first series and withought it I would have never been into Gundams. Anyway, fave OVA would be 8th MS team, and fave movie would be CCA and F91(liked them both equally). Anyway, other than that, I also love RahXephon and Shin Getter Robo.

Shin Getter Robo was cool. I only saw the first DVD but I'd like to finish up the series.

In no particular order-

Original Animation Video:
War in the Pocket (I'm not sure if that's the title),
Iczer 1,
Bubblegum Crisis,
Detonator Orgun,
Would Cyber City Oedo 808 count?

Movie:
Would the Armitage movies, Ghost in the Shell and Guyver - Out of Control count?
Voice of a Distant Star,
The Five Star Stories,

Series:
Would Tank Police count?
RahXephon,
New Mobile Suit Gundam Wing,
Argento Sohma,

Ooh. All great choices.

Yes, War in the Pocket is what its called (full tittle is Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket)

And yes, Cyber City counts as an OAV.
Movie:
Would the Armitage movies, Ghost in the Shell and Guyver - Out of Control count?
Voice of a Distant Star,
The Five Star Stories,
Again, great choices. And yes, Armitage, GitS and Guyver: Out of Control count as Anime movies.
Series:
Would Tank Police count?
RahXephon,
New Mobile Suit Gundam Wing,
Argento Sohma,

Actually, Tank Police isn't a Tv series, but an OAV series.

I saw about 1/3 of the series fan-subbed about 5 or so years back. I hope I can get ahold of that again, cause I want to see the whole thing.

Thank you.

I've always wondered about this; If up to me, I would have put all of them in the series catagory, but some of them are actually called OAV by the producters, while others aren't. What's the difference between an OAV and a series?

Considering that OAV seems to be short for original animation video, aren't the anime series also "original animation" video? Or are the "series" made specifically for television while OAV's are made directly to tape/dvd/theatre?

This is what I like to watch, in no perticular order what so ever:

Voice of a distant star (love how almost half the movie takes place at the local busstation)

Gundam Wing (first even anime I had the pleasure of watching)

GW: Endless Waltz (c'mon, he blasts the Whitehouse)

Gundam Seed (something about how they mix regular animation with the CG stuff in a non-disney kind of way...same hing with the Zoids Battles)

Neongenesis Evangelion (both movies and the series)

Zoids Battles (the ones with Bit Cloud)

Well, reading the list I realize how poorly we need new good anime in Sweden. Maybe some day, probably not though so I will get stuck in front of the tv watching Teletubbies with my 2 year old son instead

Have a good one,

You are correct - OAV is a Movie or even a Series that is direct to Video - Not something which is originally for Cinema or more commonly TV then later released on Video as an after thought or part of the merchandising machine. And for `Video` now read DVD/LDisc/Video

Guess my choice would have to be

Macross
Gundam - the first
Project AKO - c`mon its a larf!!
Bubblegum Crisis
Powerdolls - love the gears and realism even if the story maybe a trifle iffy
and of course FSS
Sorry for all the greats I had to miss out on.

*blinks* Who blasted what white house? Are you referring to Heero obliterating the shields on Mariemeia Kushrenada-Barton's bunker at the very end of the OAV?

That bunker was in Europe, specifically the city of Brussels in Belgium where the Earth Sphere United Nations (ESUN) assembly building and the Preventers are also headquartered.

I got this info from Protoculture Addicts #59 February/Mark 2000 edition with Wing Gundam Zero (2nd version, but the original design that inspired the other five in the anime) and Heero Yuy grasping the business end of a rifle (complete with scope) standing next to that gundam.

That and I watched the OAV repeatedly just to make absolutely sure. Then again, what version do you watch? I've only watched the Japanese version with English subtitles, so I don't know how the English dub changed things. From what I heard, they did change quite a lot of stuff.

Sorry, I actually watched it on Cartoon Network about 3 years ago with a couple of 1.5 year olds on the floor. That being said I am sure you agree with me that I could have made a misstake, it does look like it though right? Or am I wrong in this too? Well, in anyways - the flashes I do remember seeing of Endless Waltz(not hearing) was good by any standards. Thus I will keep it on my list :D

Yes, everyone makes mistakes. I don't think Mariemeia's bunker was actually in Brussels. It was near the city, but not in it. So my mistake there too. :)
