So I'm about to get the 1/100 Hydra kit I've been after for a while.
But there seems to be another 1/72 kit coming out as part of the Wonder Festival....
http://www.itmedia.co.jp/games/g-toys/2 ... 08/19.html

Does anyone have any info on this 1/72 Silicon Tribe kit ?
It seems from the photo that it does not have clear armour.

Also who manufactures the original 1/100 kit ?

These kits aren't cheap so any advice would be much appreciated.

The other 1/100 you're talking about is from Volks with full clear armor http://knightclub.cool.ne.jp/mh/hydra/hydra.html . This Silcon Tribe Hydra is an old kit. ST Hydra comes with clear shoulder armor and the shoulder insignia using decal. Volks 1/100 is a better buy, I think. ST 1/72 isn't that much bigger than Volk 1/100.

I have a recast of the ST Hydra, it's been around a while. I don't know about the original, but my recast has clear leg armor and some other clear parts, in addition to the clear shoulder armor.

When ordering a 1/100 (from a recast site I assume?), just make sure you don't confuse the Volks 1/100 Hydra and the old Moonlighters 1/100 Hydra. Volks has full internal frame and a full set of clear armor, whereas the Moonlighters kit is more like a normal kit... no frame, no clear parts.

Thanks for the advice.
I'm pretty sure it's the 1/100 clear volks, not a recast.

What are recast sites like ?
Which kits are for sale ? (It's becoming increasingly difficult to track kits down)
I recall a few Korean sites that might sell recasts.

Can you post some links ?

Yeah, that should be Volks.

What are recast sites like? And what are they selling? Well, just check out the FAQs and FSS pages at hobbyfan.com and E2046.com. Those are the 2 recast sites I shop at.

Not sure what you meant by your first sentence. If you're talking about the Hydra at Hobbyfan then it is a recast.

A couple of other Korean sites that sells recast that I know are:

www.plamania.co.kr
www.chromehead.co.kr

Well I finally received my Hydra.( :) )

Has anyone built a transparent armour FSS kit before ?
I found a few untranslatable Japanese sites.
It seems the pro modelers polish the clear parts first to make them more transparent...
Also, with the B4 it's seems to be painted with semi-transparent paint.
Either that or the the paint is on the inside.

Anyone have any experience ?

You'd apply clear paints on the surface and paint the under armor with the details in a darker color in order for the details to show through the semi-transparent armors.

I wasn't sure of clear paints even existed !
paint the under armour
Do you mean the skeleton ?

How about painting the inside face of the clear armour ?
There are a lot of details on the reverse of the armour.

He was saying you paint the backs of the armour to bring out the detail that is there.

Here's what I'm talking about, from both the magazine and the kit instruction.

If you buy a pet from pet stores , you are encouraging those breeders to breed more. This is the condition that they lives in:

WoW !,
Thankyou so much.
The Instructions I got with the kit were awful.
They even missed a whole page on the leg construction.

Are they suggesting painting the subsurface armour metal / grey or gold ?
