Space Craft in Characters 3 & 5

Post by Tachyon » Mon Sep 27, 2004 9:29 pm

In Characters 3 and 5 there are illustrations of space craft; both fighters and one or more carrier ships. Are these from Five Star Stories? If so, are they current era or from the distant past? Who owns them? Or are they generic types owned by a number of different nations?

I'm going to scan them once I have Internet connectivity at my new home and I wanted to get some idea of what I'm scanning.

Well, I guess they're more obscure than I thought. I should have Internet access at home in 2 days and some free time by the weekend. I'll get those images scanned and posted for identification.

I'll scan the whole pages so that the Japanese text is legible. I don't expect complete translations - just a brief explanation of what they are.

Yeah, I wish I had these two character books, I wish I could just look at them.

I am very interested in seeing the spaceships if you can scan them and upload them somewhere.

I got them years ago so I really don't remember what I paid. As I recall, they were pretty cheap.

There isn't much FSS material in the 2 books. Lots of photos of Nagano in Tokyo Disneyland, recording music, etc. If I had a translator on the job I think they'd be great for interviews.

The reason the spaceship art seems odd to me is I've never seen it anywhere else - just those 2 books.

Seems like Nagano was designing for some game company that later went bankrupt, so this game was never completed. Supposed to be some 3D game, and I think he mentioned something like its hard to animate MH in a 3D game.

So it's not part of FSS.

Did u tear off all those pages?!
Looking for:

Thanks for the information. I'll scan the images nicely and clean them up later. Since it isn't FSS I'll give it a lower priority.

Yeah, there was a little tearing involved. I guess I can't resell the book now.

Nice to have that mystery solved!

Thanks! This are kinda cool, and definitely not from FSS.

Althought, The omega fighter looks an awful lot like the Prowler from FSS...

And one of the "enemy carriers" resembles the frieghter he used early on in the FSS manga, (the one that passes the "boowery" ship)

There is also one of the "Enemy Carriers" that somewhat resembles one of the AKD's Air Dorrey's.

I will re-scan and clean up these images in the future. I can't say when, though. I'm a one man image shop and right now I'm busy doing some Super Robot Wars and preparing some FSS articles.
