Xenogears

a great rpg, with some wicked mecha designs, this is probably one of the best RPGs I have ever played on any system. Who else knows it? Anyone have any line art for the less prominent mechs?

I have some art prepped for scanning from Xenogears. I also like the designs. I still need to unpack the Gears archive, though...

Great story, one of the best I´ve seen.
The "game"-part was fine until they ran outta time and money on disc2...it was still pretty ok but didnt come close to the story and gameplay height of disc1. Anybody with a ps1 should try this little gem out.

NGE-fanbois call this one the NGE-rippoff of games but dont listen to them

Oh and watch out for the numerous Gundam and Macross-parodies

I have most of the major mecha pics, I would love to see some of the soldier mecha(especially the Solaris and Kislev mechs) and the Yggdrasil in all its variations.

Theres a fabulous Xenogears artbook which I have, it is THICK and packed with all the line art by Junya Ishigaki -- who deserves an award as most-improved mecha designer -- and some of them are freakin' COOL!

I have seen the book online a few times, I want to grab it, but I am so far behind in all of my hobbies, I don't know when I'll be able to grab it

XenoGears is by far and is most likely to remain my favorite videogame of all time. It was very nearly perfect. Had they the time and money to complete Disc 2, it would have been perfect in my eyes.

Both the complexity and maturity of the plot has yet to be matched (the only other RPG that comes close are the Shin Megami Tensei games) and it has one of the most interesting cast of characters of any RPG to date (including and most especially the villians)

Of course, there's also XenoSaga, but that has yet to match the majesty that was 'Gears. Thus far I have greatly enjoyed XS Episode 1...its a good start (though I don't like the battlesystem from Saga as much as the Deathblow system from Gears) but they've a long way to go before the series is finished and I will reserve final judgment until that time...

true the second disc was rather rushed, which is sad. maybe they will go back and redo the second disc someday and call it Xenogears Perfect Edition

Well, Xenogears is last of Square's epic RPG that I like...(After that are mostly crap. Well, I'm also a PS2-less person.)
Something I wonder...how many event got cut out from 2nd disc?

Kind of off-topic. My most favourite Square's game is Eihander, shooting game.

Not likely, since the creator, director and idea guy behind XenoGears left SQUARE and formed MonolithSoft (currently working for Namco) so he could do his XenoSaga series.
