Galaxy Express 999

Post by Tachyon » Fri Apr 09, 2010 2:15 pm

Galaxy Express 999 (1978) is available for viewing on Crunchy Roll! I just found out a few days ago. All 113 episodes subtitled. It's a Matsumoto classic so I'm going to try to work my way through. I'm wondering if the follow-up movies are available too.

I have to give Crunchy Roll a try one of these days. I like watching anime online, so it'd be great to watch some stuff on CR.

I finished all 113 episodes of Galaxy Express 999. I thoroughly enjoyed them although I'd hesitate to recommend them to Western fans. Not exactly hard science-fiction.

I've got the first movie on my computer but I haven't been able to watch it yet.

113 episodes! Wow, that's a major commitment for an anime series. I've never made it past anything beyond 50 episodes and I've never counted any anime series above 36 episodes as one of my favorites. I salute your completion of Galaxy Express and hope it's an exception to the rule :)

It's always impressive when a show manages to go longer than 25 episodes without turning into crap. Even more so when it manages to go past 100. Only two shows I've enjoyed passing that line so far (Touch and LoGH). I've long wanted to give GE999 a look, as I tend to enjoy Matsumoto's work, but it's not in the cards this year, so I hope Crunchyroll is still streaming it in another six months.
