Did that issue of Newtype have any info on FSS? I notice on the front cover that it says FSSxGTM. What gives?

You know, after watching those previews, it certainly looks a LOT like FSS. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being part of the FSS universe. Maybe it happened in Joker's past during the Super Empire on some distant world that is now lost to Joker. That could very well be the Flame Empress from FSS. Maybe Gothic Made is occurring in the place where the Super Empire went to when they left Joker....

Maybe it's just the times we live in, but I get a real sense from these videos that GothicMade is a remake/reboot of Five Star Stories. Or perhaps it's more accurate to say I feel GothicMade looks like a modern retelling of FSS. At least, "visually". Since I don't know anything else but these VERY short clips, it's just a wild guess.

Maybe Nagano thought that FSS is too big to get the single Movie treatment. You would probably have to make a lot of sacrifices to convert the story to movie length. So instead, he created a new story/universe with the movie in mind. Even if the setting/style it similar to FSS, it should be easier to structure the story to please the movie audience (and without angering the FSS fans ).

It does give me the FSS feel too, but I think this would be the world with more advanced technology compared to the current FSS JC era setting. Maybe its in another world altogether...

Actually, IMHO the story background is very similar to a Sega game that Nagano was involved with - titled Airs Adventure. It's about a knight going on an adventure with a princess/priestess and of course the romantic story between them. I think GTM is the bridge between Airs Adventure and FSS?

If Mamoru Nagano wasn't doing an April's fools prank , it seems it's coming out in November.

"Hana no Utame Gothicmade, the directorial debut of Mamoru Nagano (Five Star Stories), will open in Japan on November 1. Nagano made the announcement at Anime Contents Expo on Sunday after planning to release it this spring. In addition to directing the feature film, Nagano conceived, wrote, storyboarded, and animated it."
