Billion or trillion

I'm reading through english issue #7, giving attention to the back of the book features that present the full statistics of the LED Mirage Mortar Headd. Page 75 lists the output of the engine as 2.3 billion horsepower. However, here at gearsonline, all the Mortar Headds are given statistics where the horsepower are listed in the trillions. I suppose whether it converts to a terawatt of power or a petawatt of power makes little difference since it's still outrageous in any case. At such incredible levels of power, one order of magnitude is pretty much the same as the next

But I was wondering which is correct? Is it billions or trillions?

Should be trillion I believe.

Is there any particular reasoning behind that? Are there multiple sources that say trillion and issue #7 just happens to be the odd man out? Don't be shy with the gruesome details. Remember, I'm a FSS newbie, so I want to know it all

2,300,000,000,000 in JP vol 2, which is 2.3 billion (long scale) as well as 2.3 trillion (short scale) in English.

Many thanks banruo! So it actually is correct, just in long scale. It must be a funny japanese thing. Like how they once used kg for thrust ratings in many fictions like Gundam and Macross. So much converting to do. Thank gawd for the net

Wow, a petawatt per Mortar Headd. I think that's more power than all the electricity currently on Earth!

yeah, its a lot of power.

1 Horse Power = 746 Watts or .746 Kilowatts.

At 2.3 Trillion Hp, the LED generates 1,715,800,000,000 Kw or 1.715 Petawatts!

As an example, the peak power consumption in the summer of 2006 for the entire United States was a mere 789,475 megawatts. Consider that the average Mass-production Mortar Headd rates at around 1 Trillion Hp, a single Barunja could power the entire United States..quite possibly the entire planet..by itself!

Yes, indeed Nu Soard. The power level of the Mortar Headds is simply astounding. I've also been comparing them to real world levels and they simply surpass everything.

A Leopard II Tank generates 1,103 kW
A Nimitz Aircraft Carrier generates 104 MW
2004 worldwide power consumption was 15 TW

So yeah, the LED Mirage generates exactly 1,700 more TW of power than all the power consumption of planet Earth in 2004

Even compared to fellow fictional mecha in anime, the Mortar Headds blow everything out of the water:

RX-78-2 Gundam (Mobile Suit Gundam) generates 1,380 kW
L. Gaim (Heavy Metal L. Gaim) generates 149 MW
VF-1A Valkyrie (Super Dimension Fortress Macross) generates 1,300 MW

I once did a calculation that showed the LED Mirage output could boil the Great Salt Lake completely away in about 3 hours.

It's a lot of power. a whole lot....
