Don't get me wrong, I think the mecha designs from Advance of Zeta and Gundam-Meaningless War 0091 are some of the best that have come out of the Gundam franchise in a long time. But come on, they're naming the designs after rabbits! I get a kick out of it whenever I see the names, LOL! :D

Meh, I've gotten over Japanese naming stuff after cuddly animals. It doesn't make sense to us westerners, but I bet the just ran out of ideas :X

Yeah, you're probably right about running out of ideas for names. With all the mecha and giant robot anime they put out in Japan, it's no wonder. But man, they must be scrapping the bottom of the barrel. Next we'll be seeing the RX-188 Pepe Le Pew, or hey how 'bout the MSN-080 Elmer Fudd. Yeah, that's it, I like the sound of that.

Regarding the naming convetion on the ZIII:

From my analysis of the katakana for this MS, ZIII is said "Zeta Third". That being the case, rather than "zeissa", a more likely romanization would probably be "Zether". To wit:

"Zeta" is written/pronounced with a long "zeh" followed by ta" -- there's your "zei". "Third" is written/pronounced with a long "sa" followed by a "do". There's your "ssa".

Presto! You get "Zether", short for "Zeta Third".

Not definitely right, but I think it holds some water...
