And maybe I'm just not looking closely enough, or not familiar enough with the details of the MM...

But what makes this SAV so much nicer than MM?

I don't think this kit was intended to be "so much" nicer than MM SR-1. After all, both the Knight Flags and Majestic Stand SR-1 are very similar.

Areas such as the head/face, back, skirt armors(side and rear), shoulder detailing, leg and shield are all different than the ones seen on MM SR-1.

this is not the first time Volks convert MM to SAV. But in ea. instance, they done a very nice conversion. a welcome edition.
