Orange Phantom Ôo

Post by Falk » Thu Mar 09, 2006 6:12 pm

Was browsing through my MHs pictures archive, typed an adress written on a picture and found this one

No particular opinion on the color, but the shading is a bit heavy. And if going for some orange, I would've chosen a more metallic one, and a dark frame.

More tarheadd (that's lame...^^) here : http://www.nonscale.net/zeroboard/zboard.php?id=mh

ALso, to those who have a Phantom kit (at least on the white, not sure for the red), don't you think the part with 2 tubes (for the right arm) is kinda... stupid ?
I'm not sure what the sculptor wanted to do, but the front arm part is sculpted so that you think it rotates at the elbow's cylinder. And the left front arm is not the same, the tubes connect somewhere else that leaves at list possibility to fold the arm. The left arm is folded a bit, but in a totally awkward way...

Orange Phantom? BLASPHEMY!!

ok...i can accept it if the shade is slightly off what nagano has shown us in his line art...but to go against it completely is just unholy
Crucify him..crucify him....

:D :D

Hey.. that is quite nice. I like it. Good finish.

Only gripe is that the elbow is around the wrong way, and still has the pin hole guide. :)

His finishes are really nice.

Hrmm....

Lots of odd color choices on many of those MH. Don't really like.

Some have a combo of heavy shading and semi-gloss finish, which I also don't like. Such as the Alkana.

Cleaner ones like Neptune look nice enough, despite the aforementioned odd color choices.

I like the LED Babiron's a lot.

As for the orange Phantom....

You know, I rarely seen internal mechanical parts that are shinny Al or Ag color. Most of us who did internal skeleton are using black color. But now, looking at it, it looks quite good. I mean, screws and nuts are Al color, so why not?

But w/ shinny Al or Ag (Silver) color, it doesn't quite contrast the light orange color. Having said that, looking back at some other web site on the black phantom, I now see that a black phantom w/ black mechanical internal skeleton parts is black on black, w/ zero contrast and nothing stands out.

Imagine a Ag internal skeleton combo w/ black armor? I think that's one hell of a combo.

By the way, his Prominance, that mix orange/red color on different spots of the MH, remind me of the lobster I have a few weeks ago.

kind of cool

Although some may not turn out really cool, I do find it very refreshing. Although the orange does not fit the phantom style, I quite like the scheme. I think it is better than a lot of the generic finishes. I think the grey matt finish on the phantom really dulls everything.
I also want to say I like the arrukana. It suits it well. Feels like some Fantasy castle machine...
But will I do it like that? may be not. I like the weather finish style on this kit.

Thanks for sharing.

I have this one is my picture archive :

Can't remember from which site it is, but here's an example of a black Phantom with a relatively bright frame (changes quite a lot depending of the light), and it does look good.

But for the orange Phantom, I would've used a metallic orange, like northern gloss Prominence, as the Phantom is quite "rounded", it would create nice variations without bothering with preshading.

i think he did a real good job on the Empress Flame, the red is like those candy red for automobiles.
and quite a lot of work for the weathering effect on the LED with launcher.

Yeah, look at it, there is hardly any contrast at all. It's black skeleton mech. parts on black armor.

When you say "hardly any contrast all", are you talking about the black phantom shown above? Because as black MH go, that one has plenty of contrast between armour and torso/internals.

look at the back of the MH, it's black on black (black mechanical internal on Black armor). Although it is traditional color, it doesn't show any contrast compares to the white phantom, which is white on black.

The internals look like some sort of metallic color to me.
