Gaia Gear Novels

Post by Tachyon » Thu May 25, 2006 1:12 pm

I sat down last night to start separating out the pages for the 5 Gaia Gear novels. The printer's attention to detail is iffy so some of the 2-page spreads have gaps so large I don't think I can use them. Also, a lot of nice Gaia Gear art, especially the color stuff, was printed in hobby magazines after the novels were completed. I have some of that material but I'm missing a lot.

The mechanical designs for Gaia Gear were quite innovative. I'd say they were created before the "Gundam Look" was crystallized. Many of these designs have already been posted to this message board for you to see.

If you have any high-res Gaia Gear art now is the time to send it in. I really appreciate the artwork Newton submitted. He saved me from having to work on two 2-page spreads. :D

If anyone is equipped to translate Japanese text (there isn't much) or write profiles for mecha please let me know. Meanwhile, I'm going to try to stitch together this exploded view diagram of the "Flying Form" of the Gaia Gear.

I got some time today so I'm working away on the novel images. The ship called the Thirty One Square is really cool. I'll try to post it soon.

Let me just express a little more appreciation for Newton. He saved me from three 2-page spreads. Plus, I like the looks of his submitted images more than the same images in the novel pages. Nice work, Newton!

Most of you no doubt know that the main character of Gaia Gear is a "memory clone" of Char. The clone's still "got it"; there are plenty of pictures of him manhandling the cute, young female lead.

Well, back to work!

Hopefully this means you got a better rendering of the Thirty-One Square than I had in my Newtype. I'm itchin' to see the pics you have! I'm really happy that I was able to save you some work. With what you've discovered, we'll have the best GG section on the Net!

PS: Still searching for my Hobby Japans with Gaia Gear coverage. I'll drop you a line when I find them.

http://www.gearsonline.net/gundam/gaiagear/

The start page has been written. I'll need some time to scan and repair some color 2-page spreads before I start the mobile suit pages. Gaia Gear Alpha will be first. Oh, and I have to translate the captions for a diagram image showing what armaments the Gaia Gear Alpha can carry.

It may take some time but I'm confident the Gaia Gear pages will be a worthwhile addition to the Internet.

Thank you for those dates - that helps my search a lot!

I was afraid of having to troll through all those HJs - nothing like pinpoint accuracy!^__^

Looks like another great section for GOL , Gaia Gear gets little attention on-line , so this should be a prime choice for the new section .
Do you understand?

Great! Thanks! That'll be a great help for the section.

300 dpi would be great. If Email looks like it might get messy just let me know and I'll pass you direct FTP information.

Tachyon:

I am heading out to A-Kon early tomorrow morning, so it'll be about a week before I get those scans to you. Rest assured you'll have 300 dpi color scans of good quality.

Is there anything you want me to keep an eyeball out for in the ripoff room?

You know, Newton. One of these days I would really like to make it to a convention with you. For now, please keep an eye out for the 2 books below. I'll get payment to you quickly if you can find them.

I can wait a week for the scans. I've got other Gaia Gear images to resize and connect to pages.
