The "Gathering" WIP thread

Hi yp,

Thanks for asking. Unfortunately, things didn't go so well here. I dropped the head right before I was about to airbrush the purple which I had mixed earlier. Not only was the paint scratched, it made a deep cut into the actual part. You can see the damage was bad enough that I have to putty it. I decided to redo everything all over...

Good luck on your project.

I'm looking forward to seeing that Clouds Schatze finished. Nice choice of kit. :)

Sheizzel and elemental: thank you guys. I wish good luck on your projects as well.

Well, here is what I have done over the weekend. about 70% of the parts are fixed and coated with base color. I got kind of lazy and ended up using spray cans for the base coats (pearl white and gun metal)

Here is an interesting(?) story about this kit... I got this kit in 1996 from a store called "Heros club," based in SF(I think). When I ordered this, I thought I was getting an original kit because 1) the price was over $300, 2) the kit was featured in HJ less than a month ago (March of 1996?), and 3) the advertisement for the store in HJ surely sounded like they carried original kits. At the time, I have never had an original WSC kit; hence, I didn't think this was a recast... Needless to say, I was disappointed/furious after few years later.. The grey putties on the shoulder piece shows the quality of the recast... Man, I sincerely hope the store is out of business by now :|

Thats about it~

Heroes Club in San Francisco is still in business, or at least it was the last time I checked. But they don't really carry any model kits anymore, since most people prefer to order online instead of pay marked-up prices at import shops.

It's no big loss, since the prices they charged for just about any kit, plastic or resin, were pretty crazy.

Now they seem to focus mostly on things like action figures and toys.

If I could concentrait on the Schpeltor, maybe I can get it done... But it's kinda doubtful as I dunno how I'm going to really paint it -__-

I'll try my best

I've tried since I injured my hand to work on the Jagd, but some parts require full use of my left hand, and I cannot do that at this point.

So to meet the deadline, last night I pulled the Empress out to work on. Volks have done really well with the casting on this kit, so cleanup is minimal.

Unfortunately, I can only work for about 10-20 minutes before it strains my hand too much, and I have to stop. But still.. knowing my limits now, I can get more done. I've only got a foot done sofar. =p

At the far left of the photo, what brand name is the gun metal on the wing? It looks very good.

Heroes Club is still around. They are very good to me. Good price and good service, can't complain. They also have a lot of rare items.

When you buy it at Heroes Club, does it c/w the box? And yeah, they are in SF

jinnai, sorry to hear that you hurt your hand. It would be nice to see the completed Empress, but man... don't over do it to cause further harm to your hand :| I do hope you get better.

happy, I used Tamiya spray paint. (TS) and the kit did come in a card-board box...

I should be ok. I'm not overdoing it..

Kaiyodo's Jagd is sanding intensive. The mold lines on that sucker arn't exactly forgiving.. whereas my MM Empress is a damn good cast. When I originally inspected the kit, I noticed that the only real sanding I'd be doing is removing pour stubs.

I am taking it slow.. I just need to do something, I'm going stir crazy at home.

And then, this arrives..

I already got 4 pre-orders.

This was a kit I aquired for resell from HLJ. A "just in case".

Wow...that's a 2 mth. leave. A speedy recovery to you. :D

I have my fair share of injury in the past many years: a good rule of thumb is when you believe you are approx. over 65% heal, try some very light wt. 2.5 - 5 lb. (women wt.) and work on it. A few sets a day or every 2 days. The light wt. actually speeds up the recovery as your muscle needs the gentle movement to get it going again. That's what I do w/ my injury.

What happens anyway?

YOu mean he uses an original WSC box, but put recast matl. inside? Serious?

That's a good one.
