Help with bang doll color...

Post by jlyc » Thu Jan 12, 2006 5:20 am

working on a volk 1/144 bang doll. i'm wondering how the color for the armor should be mixed...i've seen people who do a purplish layer followed by a light silver/gray layer, but i don't have an airbrush so i'm expecting to mix and paint rather than achieving effect through layers.

so what is the best paint mix? specific tamiya paint type would be helpful as that's what i can get around my area....

thx :D

Well, what I did for mine...

Base color was a mix of:
Azure Blue (about 50%?)
Napoleonic Violet (about 30%?)
White (about 20%)

Those are testors model master enamel paint colors, you can probably find something close in tamiya brand.

Basically it's light blue + violet + white to lighen it up a lot. I feel that Bang Doll color should be very light, not dark at all.

After the base color, I used a topcoat of testors clear gloss pearl. This gave a nice extra 'something' to the paint job. And lastly, a light coat of dullcoat... because the pearl glosscoat is a little TOO shiny...

Well, that's what I did for mine... you can see photos of it in an old post somewhere in this forum...
