I found an *.rtf file on my HDD, with the translation of the first 23 pages of JP book 12. It's more a tease than a relief but hey

Saved from WaxTrax I guess, dated from june 2003

I can't name the courageous soul who did it though (but if he's on this board he's welcomed to pursue this holy task, tee-hee

)

I also have *.rtf files of the summaries of books 2 to 9, if anyone's interesting.

ah yes. I remember reading that a few years back.

Has it been that long since FSS has been in Newtype?

Mmh, maybe not so long^^.
It's the first chapter of book 12, so the rest of the book was in Newtype from around summer 2003 to december 2005 (or was it 2004 ? FSS Designs 1 came out in septembre 2005, but FSS book 12 in april 2006)

Either 1.5 or 2.5 years

1.5-2.5 years? That's a pretty long time.... Turns out there's nothing for May's issue of newtype; all my hopes were dashed when I checked the official site.
