After recent news of Nintendo DS's SRW W, User Bundoll at gamer-gate.net put scan of Famitsu which feature new casts of Original, now with family theme!

Valstock - so we get original ship as well
Shibomu Ardygun Operator of Volstock & 22-years old sister of main character
Akane Ardygun Volstock's gunner & 20 years old sister of main character
Blessfield Ardygun Captain of Volstock, 45-years old father of main character
transformable mech "Valhawk"
Kazuma Ardygun 16-years old main character, main pilot of the Valhawk
Mihiro Ardygun 10-years old sister of main character, subpilot of Valhawk (my...I must have DS now! )

Very interesting casts, IMO (especially since there is a loli  ) Ardygun family seem to be a kind of space transportor, which isn't common to see in mecha show.

I'm disappointed with the cast list :( It's very small... and seems to be hand-me-downs from J with the exception of SPT Layzner (one of the reasons I bought J) and G Gundam...

It is nice to see Getter back, though.

I still think it looks a lot like J. Yes, a better framerate, but it's not very far off from looking like J.

Finally after having the game for months I beat SRW W.

my thoughts on it:

Bad:

Underwhelming cast list hurt the game a lot. Not so much because of the units it for you to use, but because of the lack of enemy variety. Most of the game pit you against the same Tekkaman, SEED, GGG grunts, only changing every 20 missions or so.

Recycled J animations very evident and not even altered to fit DS. When Mazinkaiser does the sword raising bit, you can see a blank spot right above the text window... they took the sprite from J and didn't alter it to cover the larger DS screen.

You get Black Selena at the very end of the game :(

Getter is wasted. It's just there... no plot elements or enemies at all.

Voltron is horribly weak

The good:

The new animations are REALLY good. Genesic GaoGaiGar's Goldion Crusher is more dramatic here than it was in Alpha 3...

The new "animation skip" still allows you to see the outcome of a scene you didn't watch. Think of it as watching it SRW 1 style :D

Gundam SEED ASTRAY is focused on instead of SEED, good since SEED has already been played out twice in a row

The originals are pretty cool. Banpresto now has an Ideon to play around with it seems...

So it's the best non-OG portable game for SRW now, IMO. Not saying much as the others were average at best. I hope Banpresto tries with the DS again and this time used the systems full capabilities (I don't even think SRW W used half of the DS game card memory capacity...) because I think they can do some really good stuff on the DS... (3d maps would easily be possible, IMO)

I've similar thought here (and it's nice to see SEED's storyline change greatly with Astray's cast).

While I don't surprise to see Golion seem to be weak since it's like W version of Combattler and Voltes, I stiil think it's better than those two.

The most surprise thing is when I saw PoD version of Gai  , even more when I realize he wear Gekiganger pilot's outfit (at least the goggle).
