Anyone know how?

I've got a DVD burner finally, so I wanted to make a few gifs from some of the anime I have (Aura Battler Dunbine OVA, anyone? )

Anyone know?

Unfortunately, I've never done work like that. Let us know if you have any success, though.
If you don't like the news then go make some of your own.

You're on the right track.

Take a bunch of screenshots.
It helps to have a media player that has that feature built in.
I use GOM Player. (Free)
It has the 'burst capture' feature that allows you to adjust the capture intervals, capture quality, capture format and the number of captures.
Very easy.

Then use any of the gif animators available for free.
Most will just ask you for list of files, refresh intervals and do everything else automatically.
My choice is Paintshop Pro. (not free)
