Not bad for the price, but we've all been exposed to more impressive displays of robotics technology during the 2000s. We've seen all kinds of impressive robotics videos online from all kinds of groups. I don't want to undermine the importance of what the Virginia Tech students accomplished with CHARLI on the tiny budget they had. But we owe it to ourselves to be honest and after seeing videos of robots like Honda's ASIMO or Boston Dynamics "Big Dog", this latest video isn't exactly inspiring awe. It's like the moon landing; once it's been done, ever other landing is just more of the same. It's an unfortunate reality that this is "just another walking robot", but that's human nature. It's great that work is still moving along and I'm hopeful more impressive robotics are coming in the near future.
