Kurogane no Line Barrels

Post by Tachyon » Wed May 27, 2009 7:54 pm

Kurogane no Line Barrels (Line Barrels of Iron) is downloadable as a complete series subtitled (24 episodes). It's a mecha show that started in 2008. I downloaded a copy but it may be a while before I have time to actually watch it. Has anyone seen it? Is it good? I like the mecha designs. Some online sources say it's an etchi show but being a television show I doubt it's very racy.

Any mecha art books out for it?

Have not seen any artbooks for it as yet. Though there do seem to be some models about. Have to check it out.

I hope there's at least one art book. The designs are non-standard. Always nice to see.

Tachyon:

As it happens, the best source for artwork (so far) are the manga. Please let me know if you want me to get to scannin'...

I'm not going to ask you to dive into a big scanning project (especially when I've been so unproductive lately) but one or two scans to get an idea would be great. Do the manga volumes have clean line art or just the standard in-story images?

Tachyon:

Each manga volume has a full-color mecha splash page in the front, and clean black-and-white sketches in the "liner notes" section at the back. I now have all twelve current volumes, so we're good to go on that count. I'll see about scanning a couple of sketches for you here this week.

Line Barrels was made by GONZO, so I've not heard anything good about aside from Great mecha designs. GONZO tends to complete waste a shows potential after about 3 episodes, so I'm going to be wary of this show.

Cosgrove: Don't you mean the world?
Dr. Mystico: I meant the world, yes. What did I say? Cleveland? Oh, I *always* do that!
