Go Danner?

Does anyone here know anything about Go Danner? I saw an artbook for it on Hobby Link Japan.

Here's a link to the official Godannar site.

www.godannar.com

I don't read Japanese but it has some decent images of the mecha and characters from the show.Hope this helps.

I found it pretty idiotic. The 2 main mechs represent husband and wife(godnnar's "dannar" comes from "danna", which means "husband" and "Neo Okusaa's "Okusaa" comes from "okusan" which means "wife") They both combine to make that red colored Godannar, and I found that the show was intended to be sort of light hearted, but IMO all the fanservice and whatnot ruined it. I'm not that fond of the robot's designs either, and overall it just bored me.

I haven't had a chance to see the show but perhaps I'll find a DVD for it in a rental shop somewhere. There are other anime series I'd like to rent first, though.

Seems like after MSG:Zeta Gundam alot of the Japanese mecha anime went light-hearted.To me,it seems like Zetas' dark overtones and thought provoking storyline was to much for many fans and producers/directors,so they went to light comedy and mayhem to get out of the "heavy" storyline.

My guess is the lighthearted shows aren't really a reaction to Zeta Gundam. I think producers are afraid to try weighty subjects on TV. Evangelion got fairly heavy and dark at times. But, yeah, the lighthearted shows are pretty numerous.
