Round Vernier Vifam

Post by Tachyon » Tue Apr 04, 2006 7:46 pm

My Vifam artbook will ship soon from Hobbylink Japan. I've been wondering lately about this show. Does anyone know what it is about? Is it any good? Was it at all influential on mecha anime?

I'd say that Vifam was somewhat influential. The mechanical designs definitely set a standard for realistic robot design (Kunio Okawara strikes again!). In a market where Gundam ruled and still does, Vifam's design work definitely held its own.

Proof of that is the fact that Vifam kits are still easily available after all this time. The show itself was quite popular. It never was my cup of tea, but the theme song sure was cool! The story deals with a group of children who are the only survivors of a long-range colony ship crew. They have to quickly learn not only how to survive onboard, but how to operate the mecha that are their only chance of survival against their pursuers.
