Silly question: do they mention how tall the A toll is?
If it's not much taller than 25cm ( the size of the old Volks AF kit) I'd probably opt for the Volks, as the proportions on this one seem rather... Off?

Mind you, it might just be because the pic has the magazine at an angle.

Actually, that kit was reviewed in the July '88 issue of Hobby Japan; the very first Mortar Headd Saga issue. I have it buried somewhere in my closet. It was probably the best KOG kit at the time; better than Ikushima's (VOLKS) first crack at the KOG, and simply miles ahead of the Kaiyodo kit. It wa...

Hi Sheizzel. The link doesn't seem to work :( Mind you, this is still the best FSS modelling news we've had in months! Hopefully Takehiko-kun will hire a couple more takented artists to allow for more regular releases. I had Yamagishi's Terror Mirage, and I thought it was quite excellent, so I'm con...

The reason VOLKS is ceasing production of resin kits seems to be for more or less the same reason a lot of other firms are: the GK industry is dying. I've been noticing this incrementally for almost a decade, and I partly understand: the number of "true" model builders" is dwindling and being replac...

Hi Sheizzel. If they're doing a series of reissues, it's probably just to get the most out of their FSS liscence until it expires; notice that they're just re-releasing old sculpts that they already have, but absolutely nothing new has been/is slated for release. The owner of Samurai Monkey models a...

Well the bootleggers will have one less manufacturer to defile: official word from the GK company I make kits for in Japan tells me that VOLKS is out of the FSS business; they're not renewing their liscence, and they seem to be halting production of GKs alltogether, prefering to concentrate on their...

If you're refering to the "old" Wave 1/100 plastic kit, it was a sister release to the LED Mirage; both were about Y13000 in the day. Quality of that model is about the same as the LED, which is to say, not great. I believe that a few little parts on it were white metal and vinyl (buster launcher.) ...

Hi Sarion.

I used to have re-casts of the KOG and LED V3, and sadly, they just can't compare to the quality of the original kits...I'm still looking, by the way :D

Hmm. I don't think there's any hard data on whether or not the other mirage machines also use the transparent armor or not. Nagano does state that the Cross is dark ivory, and that the Jagd is "emerald" green, but nothing more specific than that, so your guess is as good as mine... Until Nagano stat...

Hi Rubel. Yes, that's quite true, Roados and one of the Boowray headdliners did recognize the LEDS for what they were. Mind you, I think it's still valid to think that the FEMC might have been trying to "disguise" the characteristics of the new mirage machines. It's much the same with moderm militar...

Nagano's drawing style has evolved drastically since he first penned the Led vs Vatshu battle in volume one, and it must be understood that he can/will change the look of a character or MH on a whim. However, I think that the general consensus is that the LED mirage armor has always been semi-transp...

Re: FSS dying?

I'm hoping the WSC LED Light Arms becomes available again sometime. I've heard that the WSC LED Sarion is exactly the same as the Light Arms, only it has the parts for BOTH the Sarion head along with the normal LED head. Is this true?[/quote] The LED Sarion by WSC comes with the Amaterasu Mirage hea...

Sorry to interject, I'm just a tad confused here... Am I understanding correctly that Tani's KoG V3 is both 1/144 AND $500????? If this is indeed the case, someone please get me some of what he's smoking. I do this kind of stuff for a living, and even I couldn't justify a price like that on a 1/144;...

The VF-1 Valkyrie is the standard Hasegawa plastic model. The atmospheric booster is a full scratchbuild that's now available as a resin kit.

I'm sure that the Macross community is rather small, and that fans from one board usually congregate to others, but I just thought I'd post the link to that thread anyways.
