Hi KOG. I use a lathe myself, but if you're using brass, you can cut those with a really good pair of cutters...Readily available at any hardware store. A dremel with the cutting wheel will also work, but produces a lot of metal dust. I'd also recommend a vise to hold parts in whilst you cut them fo...

I wouldn't even TOUCH resin kits of any kind without at the very least a pin-vise and dremel. Pin vise is fine for smaller holes (up to about 1.5mm dia) and that don't have to be too deep. For 1/100 kits especially, I prefer a dremel or a power drill, since you need to make the pinning holes deep en...

The old AF Junchoon ODK also had a little fatima cockpit, complete with a mini Clotho molded in. The cockpit hatch was molded separately, so that you could even leave it open to show the interior if so desired.

...And let's not forget that MHs have very complex hinges & joints that are many times molded together on a kit for simplicity's sake, so in that respect, yes, the WSC model may have to be tinkered-with to give it a slightly more natural look. Despite that, it just has so much more potential than th...

Thanks for the scan, Hitori. That's actually in regards to the eslazer engine though, if I'm not misataken. But this still leaves me with a linguering question: in book II (japanese), does Clotho not tell Colus VI that a MH is a lot like a child in battle, that it can be unpredictable? And then, in ...

Well god may be shooting himself in the foot. Spectacular as the model is in its parts breakdown, I think it's just overkill and horrendously-expensive. If you stop & think about it, once the kit is built, 70% of the details on those parts will be hidden from view, and on a 1/144 MH, it's already ve...

Hi Junchoon. Sounds more like you had a paint incompatibility issue to me. Lacquers over lacquers shouldn't pose any problems whatsoever... Might you have used two different brands? If anything, just remember the following formula: acrylics over enamels = good enamels over lacquers = good acrylics o...

If it helps at all, the color art of the Terror in book VIII (japanese) shows the MH to be a sort of deep blueish-purple. My color-section was somewhat dark though, as the KoG/Patriarch in the same color pages came out looking a drab green in stead of gold...Details, details! If anything, I t...

what's your guys' opinions on the Volks's Terror Mirage? compared to WSC??

tia,
wps
The WSC offering is not only larger, but honestly nicer; good proportions and very crisp detailing.

To be perfectly honest... No. I've built the 1/100 LED, LED full-Armor, Junchoon, as well as collaborated on the 1/35 LED mirage model; all of which have soft detail (lack of sharp edges & defenition, look washed-over) and parts fit was problematic at best. Essentially, the complexity & detail of a ...

The Clouds Schatze is actually the Work Shop Cast kit; beautiful model, by the way.

The blue MH is the old Volks AF series Boowray. I'm not entirely sure about the Maglow model.

Say Happy: do you still hear from Henry at all? I haven't seen him since before Wax Trax went down :|

For what it's worth, it seems that FSS kit sales are pretty much in a slump in Japan; that's part of why Volks is dropping the liscence; they've got piles of them and they just won't move. Now if you stop & think about it, plastic lits are quite costly to design & tool. To get a PASSABLY-decent 1/10...

I went as high as $71, and I was being generous. Just like Falk, I had e-mailed & asked about shipping to the kommunist republic of kanada, and the best I could get out of him was "about $20 cos so big."

Seriously, I can get it for a little less than that straight from Japan.

Hi Falk. Strangely enough, the last few years has seen me sell-off my entire FSS collection in a fit of frustration, only to regret it later on, so I'm slowly rebuilding my litle resin army. Honestly, I haven't built a MH kit in about 11 years ( 1/144 KOG and Berlin.) Not really from lack of wanting...

...Which is even more odd. The Terror and Empress were excellent, but I'm left somewhat wanting on this particular sculpt. I think the paint job isn't helping; the finish looks rather rough and I question the use of that absolutely blah greyish/green base color. I'm pretty sure that Ikushima's still...
