Re: A Dilemma

In the end, I decided on colors by the traditional method of "What Gundam markers do I already have? I'll just use those." The AKD cross on the shield suffers from the standard large-flat-decal-on-nonflat-surface issues, so maybe I'll get rid of it and paint it instead, but I don't think Gundam Red ...

A Dilemma

So I have kits for Wave's 1/144 plastic LED Mirage Sarion and LED Mirage Ver3 (delightful translucent white plastic). Both kits are essentially Wave's original LED Mirage kit plus extra parts. Should I build them both in the intended manner, or combine the Sarion and Ver3 parts together into one uni...

Designs 2 p182/Smoke Walls p6 captions. Identifying using the English labels in Smoke Walls: Top right, unlabeled. Same as in Designs. [Energy Bypass] Same as in Designs. [Single Phase Power Cylinder] Same as in Designs. [Return Bypass] Same text as label "V-shaped Power Cylinder" in Designs. [Y-Pow...

Re: PROJECT: Internal Structure of MH

I'll answer the second set of questions before getting back to comparing the captions on Designs 2 p182/Smoke Walls p6 1) On page 183 of Designs 2, upper left image, the upper left caption reads: "Input/Output Bypass" The 8th page of the article in Smoke Walls has the same image but the upper left c...

Re: PROJECT: Internal Structure of MH

1. Didn't notice that one. The bold is just the Japanese header corresponding to the English text. The text below is says that this diagram is partially exploded and differently-colored for illustrative purposes and they all fit together more compactly in practice. 2. Similar to first, diagram is di...

Re: Questions on the series

Queen may or may not be the coolest fatima, but Hugtlang is clearly the most entertaining. Self-improves by combat experience but her specs are so high the fights are too easy? Clearly the solution is to partner with the most inept headdliner she can find and make a beeline for the strongest enemy a...

Re: Some Scanning

Forgot all about that Scritti scan. Basically four sections talking about different things. A quick summary: Top left: A-Toll MH info. 13 armor variants; each of the 12 regionally stationed squads has a variant plus A-Toll Silver for the imperial guard. Sparse and Skein squads are both stationed by ...

Re: Dead message board :(

So now somebody who is not me should go over these to make sure they're consistent and all. Sometimes thinking in Japanese makes my English weird.

Re: Dead message board :(

Knight's Cockpit The knight's cockpit has been touched upon several times before, but this is a good opportunity to show a diagram of its arrangement. To capture the knight's movements and transmit force values to the MH, control devices are positioned about the entire body. Unlike an automobile or ...

Re: Dead message board :(

It occurs to me that I've always been using "knight" rather than "headdliner" because they're basically interchangeable in the Japanese, but would it make more sense for them all to be "headdliner" in translation?

Re: Dead message board :(

Control System - A MH's Nerves It need not be said that the control of a MH leaves all information management and support to the Fatima and all movement to the knight. Indeed, this division of responsibility can be called the foundation of the MH as a concept. The Fatima functions as the cerebrum, n...

Re: PROJECT: Internal Structure of MH

I just defaulted to medical Latin for bone names in the beginning because this stuff is basically technical writing; either way is fine by me.

Re: PROJECT: Internal Structure of MH

I need to stop getting distracted by videogames and gunpla and actually translate those last two sections, then maybe edit some of the early ones a bit. Did we make a decision on Latin or English for body parts?

Ezlaser External Combustion System Cutaway The spheroid in the middle is the core of the Ezlaser system. Energy is emitted through over 360 holes in the core to the receiving cover wrapped around it where the explosive energy is collected. A multitude of pinlike transmission lines from the receiver ...

Re: July 2012 Happenings

Aquarion really is sort of bad, but it apparently made enough money to warrant a sequel. I understand Aquarion EVOL turned out to be completely nonsensical in the end, though. It's hard to be impressed with the state of mecha anime in an environment where Gundam SEED of all things gets HD remasters....
