Awesome S.I.C. diorama-story link!

Hey boyz n' guyz, I found this snazzy little web-comic made by some mad genius in Japan with S.I.C. figures and mad photoshop skillz: http://saiwai-raider.web.infoseek.co.jp/555bsic1.htm It's super-fly, and is dialogue-free, to boot! :-) Just remember to read right-to-left. The dio-story is part of ...

Schweet!

But.. wouldn't the "Roaringu" just be the "Roaring"? (I don't have my Gallforce books in front of me right now, or I'd check it myself.)

Wow... Goddamn, Newton! You've been really on top of things, haven't you? Cripes, I wish I had the time to be as well-watched. (I got home from work at 11:15pm today. Sigh.)

Thanks for the commentary, man!

Also of note: Legend of Galactic Heroes is purported to be based on and/or an adaptation of the director's (or is it the writer's) Traveller campaign! Grebo On a side-note Tachyon, if you like starships and large fleet battles, you should check out Legend of Galactic Heroes if you haven't already. S...

21st century mecha - a review

Hey all, I hope it doesn't seem like I've been spamming the board today. It's just been the first chance I've had in a long time to really dive back into Gears in any kinda significant way! Now, on to the topic at hand... Over the last several years, I have fallen REALLY behind in watching mecha ani...

I'm gonna read these two articles, I swear, but I have to work up the nerve to do it. I don't really like reading long articles on a monitor, and I'm too cheap to print them out. Maybe when I have a spare moment at work I'll print the articles out on my employers' dime. Heh! Anyway, they d...

I think the classics and the new stuff all have lots to offer. I like both. There's a certain nostalgia to older shows, and a certain sort of innocent enthusiasm, that later shows lack. They're more jaded, if you will. On the other hand, one could say they're more savvy and self-aware. I don't think...

Re: Funky Names in Gall Force

You got it right, Tachyon. They're definitely "Vermin" and "Fungus". I'm not sure that it's a moral commentary so much as an attempt to conjure up images of plague, contagion, and general necrotization. Grebo! The names for the planet destroyers in Gall Force 2 and 3 seem odd. The Solnoid planet des...

I'm so psyched that they've been remaking/sequelizing so many anime lately. (Although this is technically the second remake of Raideen.) Life is good for us old-school mechaheads. It seems to me that at this point, it's almost easier to list what HASN'T been revisited than to list what has. However,...

Yeah, there's actually a Transformer named Yukakaze as well. (He's one of the six Autobot Trainbots, who form Raiden, from the Japanese TF series The Headmasters.) I'm sure the term yukikaze stems back much earlier than a WWII battleship. It certainly smacks of haiku and other such Japanese-y cultur...

Next time I'm in my old hometown I'll have to check it out. Always nice to see a new shop show up. (Especially since Image Anime might just be closing this year, if the scuttlebutt is true.)
